A Woman Washes Jesus Feet

Now one of the Pharisees was requesting Him to dine with them. Luke 7:36

One night Jesus went to dinner at the house of a Pharisee named Simon.

When Jesus sat down, a woman came and knelt at His feet. People knew that she was a sinner. She cried and washed His feet with her tears. Then she dried His feet with her long hair, and rubbed them with perfumed oil.

Simon said to himself, "Doesn't Jesus know what kind of a women she is?"

Jesus knew what Simon was thinking. He said, " Simon, I want to tell you a story. Two men owed money to a man. One owed five hundred dollars. The other owed fifty dollars. When the man told them that they didn't have to pay the money back, which one was happier?"

"I guess the man who owed the five hundred dollars," Simon answered.

"You're right," Jesus said. Then He said, "Simon, when I came here, you didn't offer me water to wash. You did not give me a kiss or any oil for my head. But this woman washed my feet. She kissed them and rubbed perfumed oil on them. Her sins have been forgiven because she was so loving."

Jesus said to the woman, "Your sins are forgiven. You are saved by your faith. Go in peace."
