Escape to Egypt

And he arose and took the child and his mother by night and departed for Egypt.  Matthew 2:14

                              When Mary and Joseph were still in Bethlehem, and Jesus was a baby, an angel came to Joseph in a dream.

     "Get up quickly," said the angel. "Pack your things and take Mary and the baby Jesus to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you to leave, because King Herod has plans to look for the child and wants to kill him. Herod thinks this baby will take away his throne!"

     So Joseph got up in the middle of the night. He took the baby and his mother, and they left for Egypt right away.

     They stayed in Egypt until King Herod died. Then God's angel came again to Joseph in a dream.

      

"Get up and go back to the land of Israel. The one who wanted to kill Jesus is now dead, the angel told Joseph."

     So Joseph and Mary took Jesus back to their own country. They went to live in the town of Nazareth in Galilee.
