New Testament Stories Fishing For People
And when they had brought their boats to land, they left everything and followed him. Luke 5:11 Jesus was walking by a large lake called the Sea of Galilee. People crowded all around Him just to hear Him talk. Jesus saw two boats pulled up on the beach. One of them belonged to Simon Peter. Jesus climbed into it and asked Simon Peter to take the boat out a little way on to the lake. Then more people could come and see and hear Jesus. When Jesus finished talking, he said to Peter, "Sail out into deeper water. Then put out your nets to catch fish." Peter cried, "What? Master, we have fished all night. But we haven't caught a thing. But if you say so, I will try." So he put his nets into the water. When he pulled them in, there were so many fish in them that the nets were breaking, and he had to call his partners to help.
Peter sank to his knees in front of Jesus. "I am not good enough to be with you," he said. "Don't be afraid," Jesus said. "From now on you will not catch fish. You will be fishing for people, and catch them for God." Peter and his partners, James and John left home and followed Jesus.
