God's Law for Israel Deuteronomy 5:29-6:9 Moses talked to the Hebrew people of Israel about the law that God gave them. "Remember that God brought us out of Egypt, and is going to give us our promised land," Moses told the people. Then he told them, "Listen, Israel !" Listen, everyone! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength!" Moses reminded the people that they should keep God's law in their hearts. "Teach this law to your children," he told them. "Talk about it everywhere, at home and away from home." Then he told them that God wanted them to think of the law when they went to bed at night and when they got up in the morning. "Write the law on pieces of leather, and tie them on your arms and wear them for headbands," Moses said. "Write the law of Israel on your gates. Write it on the posts of your front doors."
