Jesus Calms the Storm

And on that day, when evening had come, He said to them, "Let us go over to the other side." Mark 4:35

One day Jesus stood in Peter's boat and taught crowds of people who were on the lake shore. They stayed until evening. Then Jesus said to His disciples, "Let's cross to the other side."

They began to cross the Sea of Galilee. Jesus curled up on a cushion in the back of Peter's boat. He didn't wake up when the storm came.

Soon there were hard rains and terrible winds. The sailboat was tossing in the great waves and filling up with water. Jesus' friends woke Him up saying, "Teacher wake up! Were going to drown! Don't you care?"

Jesus woke up and said to the waves, "Peace! be still!"

At that very moment the storm stopped, and the Sea of Galilee was very calm.

Jesus turned to His disciples, "Why are you so frightened?" he asked. "Don't you believe that God will take care of you?"

The disciples were to surprised to answer. They said to each other, "Who is this Jesus? Even the winds and the seas obey Him!"
