Jesus Teaches in the Synagogue

And he began teaching in their synagogues and was praised by all.  Luke 4:15

On day Jesus went to the synagogue, in His home town of Nazareth. This was a place were Scriptures were taught.

In the synagogue, Jesus read from the book of the prophet Isaiah:

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because God has anointed me to tell good news to poor people, to let prisoners free, to make blind men see, and to call this the Lord's year.

After He read these words, Jesus closed the book and sat down. Everyone was watching Him. Jesus said, "These words have come true right here in this room."

Everyone was surprised by the way he spoke. "Isn't this Joseph's son?" they asked.

And Jesus spoke and said, "Do you want me to do a miracle! Prophets can be welcomed anywhere except in their home town."

This made made them very angry. So they grabbed Him and took Him up to a cliff. They were going to throw Him off, but He managed to get away.
