New Testament Stories Jesus Walks On Water
And when He went ashore, He saw a great multitude, and felt compassion for them, and healed their sick. Matthew 14:14 Jesus spent a long day on the shore of the Sea of Galilee. He taught people about God and healed the sick. In the afternoon, He told the disciples to start without Him. So they got into their boat and started across the lake. Jesus sent the people to their homes. Then He went up into the hills by himself to pray. He was still there when it began to get dark. The disciples were still on the lake. The wind was blowing against them and pushing their boat backward. In the middle of the night they saw Jesus, walking on the water toward the boat. They were terribly frightened and cried, "It's a ghost." "It's not a ghost," said Jesus. "Be brave. It's Jesus. Don't be afraid!" Peter called out, "Jesus, if it's really you, tell me to walk on the water." And Jesus said, "Come." Peter got out of the boat and started toward Jesus. But as soon as he felt the wind, he got frightened and started to sink into the sea. "Help me!" Peter cried. Jesus took him by the hand right away and said, "Why did you stop trusting me?" As they got back into the boat, the wind stopped blowing. And the disciples said to Jesus, "Truly, you are the Son of God." |
