Jesus Asks Matthew to follow him

And as Jesus passed on from there, He saw a man, called Matthew, sitting in the tax office, and He said to him, "Follow Me!" and he rose, and followed Him. Matthew 9:9

                              One day Jesus saw a man named Matthew sitting in his office. Matthew was a tax collector. He worked for the Roman government.

     "Matthew come with me and be my disciple." Jesus said. Matthew got up right then and went with Jesus.

     Nice people did not eat dinner with tax collectors, because most of these tax collectors cheated the people. But Jesus are dinner with Matthew and other tax collectors and others who were rejected by the people.

     When the Pharisees saw this, they asked the disciples, "Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?"

     Jesus heard them and said, "People who are healthy do not need doctors.  I came to help who need my help.
