The Face of Moses Shines Exodus 34:1-2, 28-35
When Moses saw the golden calf that the people worshiped, he threw down the stone tablets with the ten commandments on them. Afterward he went back up the mountain and begged God to forgive the people and lead them to the promised land. "I will do this, because I am faithful to my promises?" God told him. Then God said, "Cut two more tablets out of stone, like the ones I gave you. Early tomorrow morning come up here on the mountain alone?" God told Moses what to write on the stone tablets. When Moses came down from the mountain with the two stone tablets in his hands, he did not know that the skin on his face was shining. Aaron and the people looked at Moses and were afraid. They wouldn't come near him. Finally Moses called out to them. Then Aaron and the other leaders of the people came and spoke with him. After that, the rest of the people came close, so that he could tell them about the ten commandments that God had given him on Mount Sinai. When Moses was through telling these things, he put a cloth over his face. |
