Peter Goes Fishing

After these things Jesus manifested himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberius, and He manifested Himself in this way.  John 21:1

Jesus showed Himself again to the disciples,

Peter, James, John, Thomas, Nathanael, and two other disciples went to the Sea of Tiberius. (This was another name for the Sea of Galilee).

     "Peter said, "I'm going fishing."

"We'll go to," said the others. They got in the boat and fished all night. But they didn't catch anything.

Just as the sun started to come up, they saw a man standing on the beach. They didn't know that it was Jesus.

"Did you catch anything?" Jesus asked.

     "No," they answered.

"Put your net down on the right side of the boat," Jesus said. "You'll get something."

So they let their net down one more time. It was so full of fish that they could hardly haul it in.

One of the disciples said to Peter, " It's the Lord!"

When Peter heard who it was, he grabbed his robe, and jumped out of the boat, into the water and started wadding ashore. The rest came in the boat, dragging the net full of fish.

When they got out to the beach, they saw a charcoal fire. Bread and fish were cooking on it.

"Bring some of those fish you caught," Jesus said. Peter dragged the net up on the beach. There were a hundred and fifty-three large fish in the net. This was too many fish for the net, but it was still not torn.

Jesus said, "Come and eat breakfast." He took the bread and roasted fish and gave it to them.  This was the third time that the disciples saw Jesus after He had rose from the dead.
